Who is behind OpenBasis?
A collective of quant and trading professionals and enthusiasts. The code, the studies and the published numbers are what to judge us by, and you should not need to trust us to check any of them.
Is OpenBasis open source?
Yes. The GitHub organization is github.com/openbasis. At launch it holds a README. The code is published there as it is released, with its open-source license.
Is there a token or a fund?
No. There is no token, no fund, no pool and no deposits. The product is the repo.
Can I invest or deposit with OpenBasis?
No. There is nothing to invest in and nowhere to deposit. OpenBasis doesn’t take money from anyone. Run it yourself, or follow the book.
Does OpenBasis charge fees?
No. There are no fees, no subscriptions and no paid tier.
What does it earn?
The studies will tell you. They are public, sealed and adversarially audited. We don’t give estimates or ranges before they are released.
Is it risk-free?
No. Delta-neutral removes most price exposure, not risk. Funding can turn negative, costs can exceed what funding pays, a leg can be liquidated, and venues can fail. See Delta-neutral, in plain terms.
What happens if funding turns negative?
The short side pays funding instead of receiving it. That is part of the trade, not an exception to it. How the design handles it is part of what the studies test and publish.
Who holds the keys?
If you run it, you do. OpenBasis is self-hosted, with trade-only keys. The full custody design will be published with the design documents.
Can OpenBasis withdraw my funds?
No. OpenBasis is self-hosted: you run it on your own infrastructure, with your own keys. It uses trade-only keys, which can place trades but can’t withdraw.
When does it go live?
The studies land in the coming weeks. Then the book runs on paper, then with real money. Each step is announced here, on X and in Telegram when it happens.
Can I run it now?
Not yet. Today the GitHub organization holds a README. The code and a self-host guide will follow, and each release is announced here, on X and in Telegram.
Why no dates?
Because a date is a promise about work we haven’t finished. A study takes as long as it takes to run, audit and write up. We announce each step when it happens.
How do I verify what you publish?
Start with the artifacts, not with us. Each study links its sealed design, its audit trail and the data behind its figures. Once the book runs, positions are attestable on-chain and drift is published every week. If a figure doesn’t re-derive, say so in public.
What are the official channels?
openbasis.org, @OpenBasis on X (x.com/openbasis), @OpenBasis on Telegram (t.me/openbasis), github.com/openbasis, and security@openbasis.org. Anything else is not OpenBasis.
Will OpenBasis ever ask for my keys or money?
No. We will never ask for your keys, your seed phrase or your funds, and we will never offer a token, a fund or an investment.
I found an OpenBasis token, fund or look-alike account. What do I do?
It isn’t us. Don’t send it anything. Report it to security@openbasis.org with a link or a screenshot, and report it to the platform it’s on.
How do I report a security issue?
Email security@openbasis.org. Please don’t post details of an unfixed issue in public. We’ll reply, and once it’s fixed, the fix is public in the repo.
Is this investment advice?
No. OpenBasis is open-source research software. Nothing on this site is advice, a solicitation or an offer.
